Papua New Guinea officially celebrates its diverse culture through festivals that highlight the customs and ceremonies of the local areas. These events are a great opportunity to witness a variety of cultures in the one location. The dances, feasts and ceremonies are a photographer’s paradise. Artefacts can sometimes be bought at these festivals.
Expeditions can be customised to incorporate these events. However, these festivals are notorious for changing their dates and locations. So please contact us if you wish to coincide your expedition with one of these events.

Once Imajica is securely anchored our Naiad inflatable dinghy can be used to explore beaches, visit villages, fish and dive from, or skurf behind.
The rear ladder is used to get in and out of the water for swimming or snorkelling and for cleaning fish.
Showering takes place outside over the forward netting - bathers recommended! (Unless you prefer the tropical swing of things.) Clothes washing can be done on deck with buckets.
Meals are prepared and cooked on deck. Afterwards all dishes are hand washed in black tubs. This job is usually assigned to whoever told the worst joke.
As the sun disappears each day the lantern is primed and the guitar comes out. Card games, jokes, and night fishing dominate the rest of the evening, while plans are discussed for the following day.

Papua New Guinea has long held the reputation for world class diving and Kavieng is the pelagic capital in PNG's crown.
Manta rays, sharks and schooling pelagics are among the attractions. World War 2 wrecks including aircraft and submarines also make for interesting dives.
Surfari Expeditions take us away from Kavieng with the choice of travelling either east or west. East takes you to the reef and islands of New Ireland Province. West takes you across the top of New Hanover, where there’s the potential for perfect breaks; it just depends on which way the swell is coming from. All the islands and reefs boast both lefts and rights.
The breaks suit the average to pro surfer. There's plenty here to get the adrenaline pumping. All the breaks are onto a reef so wetsuit boots are a must, as many a wave will leave you standing on the reef.

From the central highlands to the mighty rivers such as the Fly and Sepik, to outer island groups with their abundant coral reef ecosystems, Papua New Guinea offers amazing diversity. Surf virgin waves one day, then trek through villages, past waterfalls, and witness traditional cultural events the next.
Papua New Guinea is one of the few countries that offer such varying traditions and dramatic landscapes for the adventure traveller.
Photographers be warned; make sure you bring enough film! There is nowhere to purchase quality film and you'll want every frame you can expose.
Not only is the light in Papua New Guinea always changing and constantly dramatic, but the subject matter is fascinating and colourful.
From spectacular cumulonimbus clouds and gorgeous sunsets, to the soulful faces of the local people.
Whether you are building a portfolio, shooting for work or just want happy snaps to show off to your friends, ensure you bring enough film.
